As you may have heard, Gmail accounts were initially offered to two people: 1) Google employees, and 2) active Bloggers. Since getting a job at google might require more effort than you are willing to give, I suggest get a blogger account. Its easy to set up, and you just have to make a couple phony posts to get invited to gmail. In fact, that's how I got my first invite. I used blogger to help me update a web site I do,
the Polish Heritage Club of Madison, Wisconsin.
In other news, I've gotten my first volunteer to send me invites!

Hello,
I know zip about my new gmail account, but I will learn! I got the
invite from your site and wish to thank you very much. My Yahoo! mail
had been overflowing for some time which was terribly frustrating. I
quit checking it because I could not keep up. Low and behold they have
increased it to 100mb in the last couple of days! I think gmail is
really having an impact on them! I will forward your my invites after
I give the first one to my husband.
Thank you again, Elodie
